Thermo Scientific SnakeSkin Dialysis Tubing is an easy, ready-to-use form of traditional dialysis membrane tubing. Composed of regenerated cellulose dialysis tubing, it is supplied as an open, pleated (telescoped) tube.
SnakeSkin dialysis tubing is supplied in 8-inch (20 cm) sticks that contain 35 feet of tubing of various diameters (16 mm, 22 mm, and 35 mm) and hold 2–10 mL of sample per centimeter of length. They can be used for desalting and buffer exchange of 10–100 mL sample volumes.
To use, simply pull out and cut off the required length of tubing, fold over one end of tubing, close this end with a dialysis clip, add sample at the open end, and use a second clip to close the remaining end.

Featured data of SnakeSkin dialysis tubing
Influence of surface area to volume ratio on dialysis rate. Graph displays rates of removal of 1 M NaCl from 2 mL, 70 mL, 70 mL, and 200 mL samples dialyzed in 4 respective sizes of Thermo Scientific Dialysis Devices (see Table 1), each equipped with 3.5K MWCO membrane. Dialysis was conducted at room temperature against very large volumes (e.g., 4 L) of water (dialysate). At the indicated times (triangles), the dialysis buffer was changed, and the percentage of NaCl removal was determined by measuring the conductivity of the sample.

Try Thermo Scientific Slide-A-Lyzer G3 Dialysis Cassettes. These cassettes and flasks are a more convenient and secure approach to performing sample dialysis than traditional dialysis tubing. Slide-A-Lyzer cassettes and flasks offer a rigid, free-standing frame with a secure cap, allowing for easier sample loading/retrieval, and increased sample security.
