Gibco Peprotech recombinant proteins for organoid and tumoroid model development
Organoid culture is a cutting-edge technique that allows researchers to recreate miniature organs in a controlled laboratory environment. This innovative approach offers numerous advantages, including the ability to study organ development, disease progression, and drug efficacy in a highly accurate and reproducible manner. To achieve a successful organoid model, it is crucial to utilize consistent culture components. Regardless of the specific cell type or research objective, the use of high-quality cytokines and growth factors is essential to ensure reproducibility and maintain consistency throughout the organoid culture process.
Thermo Fisher Scientific manufactures Peprotech recombinant cytokines and growth factors to support your organoid culture and organoid/tumoroid model development.
What is an organoid?
An organoid is a three-dimensional cell culture model that mimics the structure and function of a specific organ by differentiation and self-assembly of multiple relevant cell types. It is typically derived from stem cells or tissue samples and can be used to study organ development, disease modeling, drug screening, and personalized medicine. Organoid models provide a valuable tool for researchers to better understand the complexity of human organs and their interactions within the body.
Organoid growth factors and cytokines by organoid type
Many organoid cultures require soluble factors such as bioactive growth factors and cytokines. By providing specific signals to cells, recombinant growth factors can stimulate proliferation, differentiation, and self-organization, leading to the generation of organoids with improved functionality. Below are key organoid growth factors arranged by tissue type.
Recombinant proteins for organoid research poster
The PeproTech "Reagents for Organoid Research” poster is designed to help you navigate the specific growth factors and cytokines required for organoid cell cultures. A detailed list of specific recombinant proteins needed for each type of organoid including stomach epithelial, brain, ear, retina, mammary, kidney, lung, liver, and pancreas enables rapid understanding of the precise reagents needed to produce your organoid culture.

Differentiation of iPSCs to intestinal organoids with FGF-4, WNT3A, noggin, and EGF
Figure 1. Human FGF-4 recombinant protein and WNT3A act in synergy to differentiate human episomal iPSCs into mid- and hindgut endoderm and promote a gut tube-like morphogenesis, resulting in the formation of 3D mid- and hindgut-like spheroids. The major components present in the differentiation media are human Noggin recombinant protein and EGF recombinant human protein. Panels A and B represent the merged fluorescence images of SOX9 recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody (7H13L8) (green) with DAPI (blue) and F-actin (red) staining for iPSC control cells (A) and intestinal organoid (B). The images were captured at 60X magnification.
Differentiation of iPSCs to kidney organoids with noggin, activin-A, and FGF-9
Figure 2. Differentiation of human episomal iPSCs (A) into kidney organoid (B) is initiated with human Noggin recombinant protein and a GSK-3 inhibitor. Cells are later treated with human Activin A recombinant protein and human FGF-9 recombinant protein to induce nephron progenitor cells. Panels A and B represent the merged fluorescence images of PODXL monoclonal antibody 3D3 (green) with DAPI (blue) and F-actin (red) staining for iPSC control cells and differentiated kidney organoid. The images were captured at 60X magnification.
