Rotors for floor model centrifuges

Capacities, materials, and features to match your application

Our broad choice of rotors lets you select a rotor that precisely meets your requirements. Each rotor has been engineered to help you take advantage of innovative materials, achieve energy-efficient runs, and complete your work easily, safely, and reliably.

Select Rotors for Floor Model Centrifuges

Select a rotor

Use the following tool to help you identify the best rotor for your needs.

  1. First, select your centrifuge model.
  2. Then, select the type of rotor: swinging bucket, fixed angle, continuous flow, or zonal.
  3. Select the capacity and performance criteria you need, including speed and g force.
  4. Select any special requirements and features you want, such as automatic rotor ID or exchange, windshielding, biocontainment, and innovative materials. See the key rotor features for details.

If you do not have your centrifuge yet, you can select a rotor and see which floor centrifuge models are compatible with it.

Key rotor features

Innovations, from a system to exchange rotors in seconds, to safety with biocontainment, to durability for years of reliable performance, have been built into our rotors for floor centrifuges.

Auto-Lock rotor exchange

The Auto-Lock™ rotor exchange capability lets you safely and securely lock a rotor in place and later remove it with one push of a button. Labs have the flexibility to change rotors and application protocols instantly with no tools or complicated procedures. Save time and effort and make the most flexible use of the centrifuge.

In as short as three seconds, remove one rotor and replace it with another. When installed, the rotor is securely locked in place without hand tightening. The special speed handle on some larger rotors makes removing them easier.

Biocontainment for protection

Select a floor model centrifuge rotor that is biocontainment certified* to protect your samples, centrifuge, and operators from hazardous contamination, ensuring safety while maintaining ease of use. Many fixed angle rotors have biocontainment certified lids. Many swinging bucket rotors accommodate containers with ClickSeal™ biocontainment lids, which eliminate cumbersome multi-turn screw caps and high-pressure lids.

Fiberlite rotors

Light weight, robust, carbon fiber rotors

Maximize centrifuge performance with the state of the art, lightweight, corrosion-resistant and versatile Fiberlite rotors.

Fiberlite rotors take less energy to run than metal rotors, so they can prolong the life of your centrifuge. Their corrosion-resistant design ensures structural integrity. And, Fiberlite rotors come with a 15-year warranty to protect your investment.

Features and benefits

  • Ergonomic and lightweight design - Fiberlite rotors weigh almost 60% less than metallic rotors, and so have faster acceleration/deceleration rates for shorter run times. They also facilitate a safer work environment and minimize risk of damage to centrifugation equipment because of these ergonomic improvements.
  • Enhanced safety - Carbon fiber composite rotors are corrosion-resistant and are safe to use with most mild laboratory detergents and solutions, providing easy rotor care and maintenance. Substantial load or stress, because of high rotational speeds and repeat cycles, can also threaten metal rotor structure by causing it to stretch and change in size, limiting rotor life or leading to failure. Fiberlite rotors are fatigue-resistant, mitigating this threat.
  • Superior insulation - Carbon fiber material possesses naturally insulating properties, which helps to maintain sample temperature integrity.
  • Maximum support to disposable conical tubes - Fiberlite rotor cavities are molded to the exact shape of many disposable conical tubes for maximum support. In addition, a cap support is designed to relieve high g-forces.
  • Comprehensive range of adapters for different tube/bottle volumes- From 1L bottles, to 15L and 50L conical tubes, to microplates and tissue culture flasks, the versatile selection of Thermo Scientific centrifugation labware works seamlessly with your complete centrifuge and rotor system, bringing together quality and performance.
  • 15-year warranty- Unlike the limited lifetime of metal rotors due to potential failure risks, Fiberlite carbon fiber rotors are backed by a warranty up to two times longer than other rotors.
