On October 1, 2015, the US EPA lowered the ground-level ozone to 70 parts per billion (ppb). In addition, the EPA proposed to extend the length of the required ozone (O3) monitoring season in 32 states and the District of Columbia. Details of the new O3 standard can be found in the EPA’s final rule on ozone standards.

The Thermo Scientific Model 146i Multi-Gas Calibrator supplies precise levels of ozone, carbon monoxide, non-methane hydrocarbons, sulfur dioxide, nitric oxide, and nitrogen dioxide or other gases. The gas levels are used to calibrate instruments that perform zero, precision, and level 1 span checks, audits, and multi-point measurements. Here are 5 tricks to keep in mind when running this instrument.
C-Series analyzers
Sales and support for the Thermo Scientific C-series Gas Analyzers will be discontinued beginning August 1, 2015.
Calibrate the mass flow controllers
Meet US EPA Standard Method 205
The Model 146i Multi-Gas Calibrator meets or exceeds all published US EPA requirements for multi-point calibration, audit, Level 1 and 2 span, and precision checks. For more information on this test method, see Method 205 - Verification of Gas Dilution Systems for Field Instrument Calibrations.
Customize your calibrator
The Model 146i Multi-Gas Calibrator can be ordered with many options, which allows for customizable to ambient air monitoring applications. Options include Gas Phase Titration (GPT), UV Photometer, and Permeation Oven. The permeation option enables the Model 146i to be used as a permeation gas source when equipped with an optional permeation tube oven. The GPT option allows for the generation of ozone and nitrogen dioxide. For more information on ordering the Model 146i Multi-Gas Calibrator, call customer service at (866) 282-0430 and select option 1.
Take the guesswork out of gas cylinders
Facilities often use gas cylinders to feed instruments, such as those that feed the Model 146i. It can be difficult to determine how much time is left before the cylinder needs replacement. Use the gas cylinder calculator to determine how many days, hours, and even minutes of gas is remaining.
Minimize downtime
Downtime can be kept to a minimum when a proper annual maintenance schedule is followed and a healthy spare parts inventory is on hand. We have developed a spare parts list for the Model 146i for your convenience, which includes timing and part numbers for commonly used parts like the Pump Repair Kit and Fan Filter/Guard Assembly. Download the Model 146i Multi-Gas Calibrator spare parts list. To order spare parts, you can request spare parts using our online form, email customer service, or call customer service at (866) 282-0430 and select option 1.
