Access data remotely
Update software before updating firmware
Thermo Scientific iSeries gas analyzer firmware can be updated using Thermo Scientific iPort software. Update your iPort software to the latest version prior to updating the firmware on your gas analyzer. It’s important to always have the latest version of iPort because it will query the instrument and select the appropriate file for firmware updates automatically. Here are some resources you may find useful when upgrading the software:
Software in .zip format: latest iPort version (1.4.2)
Technical bulletin: Windows compatibility to iPort
Software in .zip format: Gas analyzer firmware
Choose the right cable
iPort can control remote instruments with a direct connection in 3 different ways. It's important to choose the proper cable for a direct connection.
- You should use the USB Adapter (Part # 07-010239) when your PC doesn’t have RS-232 ports
- If you have RS-232 ports, we recommend you use the RS-232 Null Modem Cable (Part # 6279)
- When connecting via Ethernet cable, you must use a special crossover cable (Part # 104745-00)
Make the most of your Tech Support Call
Prior to calling Technical Support, it is helpful to have the analyzer data file (LREC) available. The LREC file contains specific logging data that is helpful when diagnosing and troubleshooting with the Technical Support Specialist. Refer to the step-by-step directions below to download the LREC file. For more information on setting up your analyzer, see iSeries TCP/IP Set Up Technical Bulletin.
Step 1. Make sure Raw Flags is checked under preferences
Step 2. To download records for graphing, select instrument > Load Records
Step 3. Select long records. In the Fetch text box, enter the number of records you wish to retrieve. You can also enter "all" to retrieve all records.
Downloading may take several minutes depending on the number of records being downloaded and the number of instruments connected to the computer. Progress is shown in a gauge shown in the lower right.
