The OdaLog® family of instruments includes portable gas loggers primarily designed for the wastewater industry. These are primarily used at locations close to sources of Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) emissions, such as those found within sewerage pumping stations, receiving manholes, and inside sewer collection lines.
OdaLog G20 Logger | OdaLog G20 RTX Logger | OdaLog L2 Logger |
The OdaLog® G20 is the next generation of the industry leading OdaLog family, now with a digital smart sensor, enabling predictive maintenance and a long in-field deployment of up to 90-days. OdaLog G20 is rated to IP68, ATEX/IECEx certified and with Bluetooth, USB and Modbus built-in, data access is easy - manually or via an integrated system. | At long last, with the new OdaLog® G20-RTX, users can access logged data direct from an hazardous area location, by means of the built-in 4G cellular modem. ATEX/IECEx certified and with all the features of the OdaLog G20, G20-RTX is the ideal solution for low maintenance, remote wastewater gas logging. | The OdaLog® has been specifically designed to withstand harsh environments typically found in the wastewater industry. These data loggers are primarily used by close to sources of Hydrogen Sulphide emissions and feature fast and easy Bluetooth data access. |
OdaTrak™ 4–20 mA Adapter | OdaLog® Dry Dock |
The OdaTrak™ 4 to 20 mA adapter was primarily designed as an interface between the OdaLog® gas Logger and industrial control systems for the purpose of continuous, real-time optimisation of chemical dosing odour control systems and connection to telemetry and other systems. | The OdaLog® Dry Dock reduces recovery time for the OdaLog L2 and RTx by half. This minimizes downtime and allows odour control engineers to re-deploy the OdaLogs back into the sewer sooner. |

Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S)
Hydrogen sulphide is a colourless, flammable, extremely hazardous gas with a “rotten egg” smell. It occurs naturally in crude petroleum and natural gas and can be produced by the breakdown of organic matter and human/animal wastes (e.g., sewage). It is heavier than air and can collect in low-lying and enclosed, poorly ventilated areas such as basements, manholes, sewer lines, and underground telephone and electrical vaults.
Detection by smell
H2S can be smelled at low levels, but with continuous low level exposure or at higher concentrations you lose your ability to smell the gas even though it is still present.
At high concentrations, your ability to smell the gas can be lost instantly. Do not depend on your sense of smell for indicating the continuing presence of this gas or for warning of hazardous concentrations.
Health Impacts
Health impacts can vary with how long and at what level someone is exposed. Asthmatics may be at greater risk.
- Low concentrations: Irritation of eyes, nose, throat, or respiratory system; effects can be delayed.
- Moderate concentrations: More severe eye and respiratory effects, headache, dizziness, nausea, coughing, vomiting, and difficulty breathing.
- High concentrations: Shock, convulsions, unable to breathe, coma, death; effects can be extremely rapid (within a few breaths).
