Fast door opening recovery

Frequent door openings or samples being added to a freezer can create a substantial heat load burden, and having the cooling capacity to quickly recover is critical to performance. Fan-forced air circulation promotes temperature uniformity and faster temperature recovery from out-of-range temperatures. This capability is especially important for busy labs and where biological samples with a low tolerance for temperature fluctuations are stored.

Quality construction

Every detail of our lab and medical freezers is considered and designed with high quality materials to meet our exacting standards for cold storage performance and long-term durability. This includes scratch-resistant, heavy-gauge, cold-rolled steel interior and exterior with smooth powder coat and epoxy finishes that resist physical and environmental wear.  One-piece seamless polypropylene liner interiors or galveneel options allow for interior wall strength and ease of cleaning.  Closed-cell gaskets facilitate a positive door seal. These seemingly minor elements add up to finely crafted freezer that’s able to meet quality, safety and regulatory standards in accordance with UL, NFPA, AABB, NSF 456 and OSHA, as well as your demands for durability.

The ACT label process entails third-party verification of the sustainable impacts of a product, its operations, and its end of life. 

ENERGY STAR certified

Our Thermo Scientific environmentally friendly freezers are ENERGY STAR certified to reduce energy usage without compromising performance. With advanced compressor and cooling systems, our high performance freezers consume as little as 4kW-hr/day, a reduction of 55% compared to conventional freezers. Additionally, reduced heat output can provide further energy savings by reducing the HVAC load in your lab or clinical environment.  All TSX Series products are EPA ENERGY STAR certified.

SNAP compliant

Thermo Scientific TSX Series high-performance freezers are designed with features that support sustainability objectives in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP), the European Union’s F-Gas compliance, and other standards worldwide. These features include use of non-CFC and HFC-blend natural R290 environmentally friendly refrigerants, and high-density, 2 in. (5.1cm) thick water-blown CFC-free urethane foam insulation.  You can be confident that your Thermo Scientific freezer is a greener choice while maintaining the same confidence in your sample protection.

Innovative compressor technology

The Variable Drive (V-Drive) compressor, available on TSX Series freezers, delivers a leap forward in performance and energy efficiency.  Where standard compressors operate in a binary, full-power or off cycle, the innovative V-Drive runs at variable speeds as required to achieve both optimal cooling capacity and energy efficiency.  Combined with an automated tuning control, the V-Drive compressors adjust cooling power to precisely meet the needs required by temperature conditions inside and outside of the freezer.  The result is better temperature uniformity, longer life of the unit and exceptional energy efficiency.

Thermo Scientific TSX Series high-performance freezers offer whisper-quiet operation to pemit a quiet and comfortable work environment.  These models are up to 10x quieter than previous generations of freezers. Innovative V-Drive technology limits the sound output to as low as 45.5 dBA, comparable to a home refrigerator.

Ergonomic features

Our freezers are designed with the user in mind as well as the samples. Features like vacuum relief ports permit easier door openings with magnetic door gaskets for easy and secure closings.  Ergonomically designed smooth full-length and reversible door handles feature a soft-touch grip.  Comfortable easy-access shelf level placement helps increase user efficiency and lessen physical strain, while reducing the need for floor-level loading of racks. Bright LED interior lighting assists in easy sample access and identification.

Factory pre-set and key-operated setpoint security locks in temperature and alarm setpoints to minimize error and help prevent tampering.  Alarm systems with built-in audible/visual warnings for high/low temperature, door ajar, or power failure alert personnel should out-of-range temperature levels occur.  Alarm setting features include ringback, auto-reset, alarm silence, push-button test options, and remote alarm contacts to give you peace of mind. Door locks enable an additional level of security for your precious sample storage.

Vaccine storage

Many vaccines require highly specific temperatures to remain effective. Any deviation from these can have a dramatic impact on a vaccine’s viability and efficacy.  Our high-performance, purpose-built vaccine freezers are designed to meet the recommendation and standards from the CDC, WHO, NSF and other global agencies for vaccine storage to maintain cold chain requirements and product quality. Our portfolio includes freezers certified to the ANSI/NSF 456 Vaccine Storage Standard, facilitating the performance and quality you need, in addition to the low sound, low energy and exceptional user experience you deserve.

Plasma freezers

Designed to meet AABB, ANRC, FDA, and EU MDD standards for safety, quality and performance. Our plasma freezers are ideal for demanding blood bank applications where enabling fast heat removal and temperature recovery are key to maintaining product viability.  Our preset, high-performance –30°C plasma freezers with automatic defrost are approved products under the AABB Standards-Compliant Product Program (SCPP) for the storage of plasma.  These freezers include 2” casters for mobility, standard built-in chart recorders and self-closing doors with 90° stop to assist with inventory loads.

Flammable materials and explosion-proof freezers

Our flammable material and explosion-proof freezers are engineered to safely store flammable and volatile materials by employing spark-free interiors with no internal electrical components.  They are designed to meet stringent US Pharmacopeia standards for drug storage, NFPA 45 and 99 requirements and OSHA standards. These freezers are available in under-counter, full-height and freestanding models.

Manual defrost (-20°C) freezers

Our manual defrost, high-performance -20°C freezers are designed for applications in which even slight intermittent coil warming during auto defrost cannot be tolerated.  Ideal for samples such as enzymes, reagents, pharmaceuticals, biologicals, and other commonly used laboratory materials such as primers, siRNA molecules and fetal bovine serum.  These precision freezers permit cold-wall convection cooling and excellent temperature uniformity.  Our enzyme freezers incorporate specially designed enzyme bins for optimized storage and sample management and are available in variety of capacities for demanding, space challenged environments and are Compatible with GMP Clean Room Class A and ISO 6 (ISO EN 14644-1) standards with appropriate pre-installation

Auto defrost (-30°C) freezers

Reliable, flexible-use workhorses of the lab, our auto defrost -30° freezers use forced air circulation for uniform temperature throughout the cabinet and fast door opening recovery with a non-invasive, adaptive, time and temperature guided defrost cycle that eliminates the need to remove samples during defrost.  These freezers are available in a variety of capacities for samples and applications ranging from routine to complex.
