Yeast mitochondria and vacuole staining.
Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells were stained sequentially with the red-fluorescent rhodamine B hexyl ester (R 6, Cat. No. R648MP), which selectively labels yeast mitochondria under these conditions, and the green-fluorescent yeast vacuole membrane marker MDY-64 (Cat. No. Y7536). These probes are also provided in our Yeast Mitochondrial Stain Sampler Kit (Cat. No. Y7530) and Yeast Vacuole Marker Sampler Kit (Cat. No. Y7531), respectively. Stained yeast were photographed in a single exposure through an Omega Optical triple-bandpass filter set.
