Revolutionize noble gas isotope ratio mass spectrometry by switching off ionization until the sample gas is fully equilibrated in the source, negating the requirement to extrapolate back to t0 using the patented Emission Suppression Technology (EST) for Thermo Scientific™ noble gas mass spectrometers (NG-MS).
How does EST work?
- EST works by decreasing the electron energy below the ionization threshold of the gas of interest. This means that no ionization occurs as the sample is introduced (dark phase).
- With EST, the signal stability either side of the dark phase is reproducible within 0.1%.
- Switching from the dark phase to the measurement phase is very fast (<1s)
Advantages of EST
- Start your data collection at t0.
- Achieve the same excellent precision irrespective of equilibration time.
- Dramatically decrease sample size.
- No equilibration time dependency on isotope ratio accuracy.
Push the limits of NG-MS with EST
EST allows a greater degree of flexibility of analytical methods and prep designs.
- Boost your precision: Dramatically increase signal sensitivity by decreasing the volume of the prep system. Equilibration times can be extended as long as necessary.
- Kr and Xe without trade-offs: the long equilibration times of Kr and Xe are now no longer a problem. Equilibration times can be extended as long as necessary with no impact on analytical precision.
- Method flexibility: get a quick snapshot of the ion beam and to switch between ion counters or Faraday detectors depending on the size of the ion beam.
Method flexibility: Perform on-peak baselines during sample analysis with no sacrifice to analytical precision.
