Jean-Claude Alvarez, Professor of Medicine in Pharmacology, PhD, Director of the platform of mass spectrometry at the University Versailles Saint Quentin-en-Yvelines and Head of Department of Pharmacology–Toxicology at the University Hospital of Garches, Expert in pharmacology and toxicology to the Court of Appeal of Versailles and to the Court of Cassation (national expert); 107 publications in pharmacology and toxicology, participation in 4 books; President of the French Society of Analytical Toxicology (SFTA).
Forensic toxicology aims to aid medical and legal investigation of death, poisoning, drug of abuse and drug facilitated crimes. The designer drug introduction has increased tremendously in the last few years and it has put more pressure on the law enforcement agencies to quickly identify these compounds. Advancements in the mass spectrometry based assays have helped identify these compounds. However, inception of these technologies has been a challenge possibly due to the lack of clear understanding on the benefits of MS to solve forensic cases faster.
In this webinar Dr. Jean-Claude Alvarez, Professor of Medicine in Pharmacology at the University Versailles Saint Quentin-en-Yvelines explains how he and his team of experts analyze designer drugs in various matrices with MS techniques.
For forensic use only.
