A human pancreatic islet stained with Newport Green™ DCF diacetate and propidium iodide.
A human pancreatic islet stained with Newport Green™ DCF diacetate (Cat. no. N7991) and propidium iodide (Cat. no. P1304MP, P3566, P21493). The image represents a projection of 60 optical sections acquired at 2 µm intervals by confocal laser-scanning microscopy. The green-fluorescent Newport Green™ DCF indicator identifies viable insulin-producing ß-cells via binding to intracellular zinc. Dead cells are identified by red-fluorescent propidium iodide staining.
