In particular, the dosage effects from variable copies of key immune response regulators could potentially play a role in disease severity and clearance of pathogen infection. Real-time PCR is the simplest method available to study copy number variation, and TaqMan Copy Number Assays feature easy ordering and tested workflow to enable quick results. In a duplexed reaction, the copy number assay detects the target gene or genomic sequence of interest, and the reference assay detects a sequence that is known to be present in two copies in the diploid genome.
