With the advent of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin testing quality control and assurance practices for monitoring test performance have changed. This seminar will review current recommendations in this area and illustrate how quality control and quality assurance practices can detect errors in testing that can impact patient care.
At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe the quality control levels and precision targets needed for high-sensitivity cardiac troponin (hs-cTn) assays
- Apply an approach for investigating discordant hs-cTn results after errors detected by quality control and assurance testing
- Appreciate the impact of analytical interferences on patient classification for myocardial injury in the hospital setting
